The CSR policy of Manser Saxon was reviewed in 2005 and is constantly updated, in order to keep in line with the shifts in the social-economic reality of the country.
MS responsibility towards its employees
The main responsibility of Manser Saxon remains towards its employees and their families. A constant attention goes towards reviewing, updating and implementing, on an ongoing basis, fair labour practices, in line with national industrial laws and the company’s policies.
Furthermore, since 2007, MS has been awarding scholarships to the best performing children of MS employees – both at primary and secondary level. To date, over 30 scholarships have been awarded.
MS responsibility towards society
In line with the company’s emphasis on employees, internal company’s schemes or outside sponsorships could be awarded in certain fields that directly or indirectly affect the lives of the employees.
a) Alleviation of absolute poverty in the region – support, such as food relief, to families living in absolute poverty in the region around Manser Saxon.
Education - Projects in the education and training sector will be the primary focus of the social responsibility support of the company.
b) Housing - Initiatives that can improve housing facilities will also be considered as a matter of priority.
c) Health Care - Schemes related to bettering the quality of life through improved health care/facilities will be considered.
d) Social Environment - Initiatives that could lead to a bettering of the social environment are also important. Projects to combat drugs, alcohol abuse and other social threats such as these will be given consideration.
Priority will be given to such projects that will have a wide impact on the population at grass-root level and which could become self-sustaining after a certain period of time.
Partnership with Caritas and Forces Vives of Roche-Bois / Riche-Terre area
Since 2006, Manser Saxon has worked in partnership with Caritas and other Forces Vives of the Roche-Bois and Riche-Terre area, on various projects targeting alleviation of absolute poverty in the region.
1. Food relief – together with Caritas, an un-going food relief programme started in 2007 in Roche-Bois. A food-relief room was built by MS in the yard of the Roche-Bois church and is managed by Caritas/MS. Daily food supplies are thus distributed to numerous families.
2. End of year food distribution – since 2007, MS has been participating in a end-of-year food parcel distribution to over 70 families to allow them to spend the festive season without having to worry about finding food.
3. Programme “Eveil” – in collaboration with Caritas Roche-Bois, MS has contributed money and man-power towards building of a pre-primary class room for children whose parents could not afford pre-primary schooling.
4. Social workers – MS has taken over the salary of two social workers, in order to allow them to dedicate their full afternoons to the Roche-Bois / Riche-Terre region.
